Omega was founded by a watch maker named Louis Brandt who set up a work shop in La Chaux De Fonds in 1848. In 1892 there was another first for Omega when they produced their first minute – repeater watch. In 1902 Omega made a watch especially for motorcyclists which wasn’t really thought about in watch making at the time. The watch that was produced was designed to be attached to the gas tank. This proved really popular with motorcyclists and singled out Omega from other watch manufacturers and made them even more well known and popular in the watch market. In 1917 Omega released another specialist watch which was for people who were visually impaired. The watch had raised textured parts so that the watch can be read with the fingers.
